Big mama

Big mama - around 4 inches leg to leg

Saw this big mama spider during one of my Punggol visits and it really looks menacing.
Reminds me of the funny incident my friend had while topographing on Pulau Ubin. He was our navigator and he was busy looking at the map while we walked through the trees. So unknowingly he walked right through this big mama spider's web. The web's centre was just at my friend's head so when he walked thru, the big mama spider was hanging right in front of his face dangling from the remnants of its web that was hanging from the tip of hiss cap.
He had a big fright when the big mama dropped into his field of view!  . One of the lighter moments during that hot, hard, sweaty topo expedition.
Anyway, this spider is not poisonous though some individuals might have a bad allergic reaction to it, but it can give a painful bite from its large fangs. Its quite common and not-the-entomologist me do not know the name of this species.
